New bags

February 4th, 2010

I am slowly finishing new designs for my website.

I love simple designs and this heart bag made from soft leather is so romantic.

Again the bag is made from soft leather and a favourite with my friends.

Keep checking out my website over the next month as new styles are added.

Time for Tea

January 22nd, 2010

It has been awhile since I participated in a Tablescape Thursday or Pink Saturday. We have been on a family holiday to Norfolk Island; you can catch some photos of this beautiful place in my previous blog post on my website.

tea

I need quiet spots in our house just to sit and read with a cup of tea, to contemplate and find inspiration for my  designs.

tea time

This chair and table are one of my favourite pondering places. As the weather is so hot here at the moment it can be very unpleasant outdoors during the day.  Only in the early evening it is perfect to sit outside and catch the cool breeze.

As I am posting this for Pink Saturday as well I couldn’t resist showing my new bag design that fits perfectly with the pinks. This leather bag has become my new favourite bag as it carries so much and is so comfortable to wear.

cups

Mum and I have a passion for these cups with the extended saucer, I think they are referred to as tennis cups. Perhaps someone can tell me the correct name.

cookies

Don’t you love the tiny biscuits? Mum found them one day when out shopping, but sorry she can’t remember where for me to pass on the information.

china cup

This one is so cute with the bird in flight inside the cup.

teapot

Mum found the teapot at Caterbury Lace located at Warringah Mall in Sydney.

Now the table is set and the tea made, it’s time for me to sit and savour the moment while I work on a new design; perhaps I will just sneak a moment to flip the pages of the magazines.

Back to Work

January 21st, 2010

I have had such a wonderful break and am now back to work. We had a beautifully relaxing family holiday on Norfolk Island swimming, Swimming on Norfolk

and catching up with dear friends who live the lifestyle everyday.

It is such a small world we made new friends by a chance meeting in a car park when I asked if I could take a photo of their cute vintage car. They happily allowed me to sit inside to take a photo. We were just talking about where we came from (it’s a small island and everyone knows when you’re not a local) and they mentioned that they had a place north of Sydney and it turns out they are neighbours and friends of old friends of ours. As I said small world and we now have new friends. They are such  kind people and invited us over to see their home and the other vintage vehicles they own. The cars are so cute and I love them.

The island is so beautiful and our friends have Garnets nesting along the cliff edge of their home. We quietly watched as they guarded their babies; it was magical.

Harrison celebrated his birthday while we were there and the restaurant made him a cake. Such a good night with family and friends.

It was hard to leave. Dad looks so pensive at the airport to go home, wishing he had more time to do more fishing.

As I mentioned it is back to work and I have a new bag ready for my website ; I’ve called this design Charlotte.

Christmas Memories and Traditions

December 18th, 2009

In our family we get together to decorate the tree  and listen to Carols. We have lots of decorations so the tree takes time to create.

Christmas Tree

Each year we go to the department stores in the city to each choose a decoration for the tree. We go around and around until we find ‘the one’ we each like. We head off home to add the new decorations to the tree. Every year we exclaim that we don’t need another decoration on the tree, but every year we can’t bear to end the pilgrimage to the stores for our new one. As each one of us leaves home Mum hands us all the decorations we have chosen through the years to start our Christmas tree in our own home.

As I missed posting last weeks’ favourite decoration so I hope nobody objects to me adding to this post as I wanted to share these with you.

Pink Girl 1

Pink Girl 2

When my grandmother passed, Dad found her small box of Christmas decorations and told us how he remembered buying a number of them  for his mother when he was a child. We have a set of these gorgeous girls.

These decorations are very fragile and we all love them so much.

Dec 1

Dec 2

We have 2 birds from my grandmother and that started a family collection, each year we buy a bird to add to the tree.

Bird Dec

The novelty Christmas lights are all that was left of the string that used to go on my grandmother’s tree. Mum took them to a friend to see how they could be framed and we love how he turned them into a beautiful memory for my Dad.

Frame Lights

I wish everyone who has participated in Pink Saturday a happy and peaceful Christmas.

A Pink Christmas

December 17th, 2009

On boxing day we always change the table setting. So I am experimenting with a pink theme for this year. I love the silver chargers so I just have to include them.

Tablescape Thursday

Of course the reindeer candlesticks and I have fallen in love with the crystal  lamps this year.  I love the little fairy lights on the table they add a lovely light and atmosphere to the setting.

Tablescape Thursday

I mixed up a few china sets to create the setting;  I liked the different shades of pink. Mum’s favourite Santa looks at home on the table.

Christmas Table

December 11th, 2009

Have been so busy with markets that I have just had time to sit down and write an new post.

This weeks tablescape has been inspired by the  table runner we bought from ‘2Duck‘ on the weekend.

Tablescape 1

Tablescape 2

As you can see I have used  the reindeer candlesticks again, that my father bought for my mother this year.

Tablescape 3

The dinner set I can remember from my childhood, we always use it for Christmas.

Tablescape 4

We found these cute star cutlery last year.

Tablescape 5

I love bows and so does my mum. We have bows on everything at Christmas time!

Tablescape Thursday

December 3rd, 2009

I have found this fun blog where everyone posts a tabletop display every Thursday. Our theme started when my Dad came home the other day with a pair of reindeer candlesticks for Mum.

                                                                     Reindeer

Mum and I are busy trying different table ideas ready for Christmas Day. This is quite fun as we can set them up each Thursday and then go back and look at the photos and decide our favourite for the big day!

Table Decoration 1

Obviously this is our silver theme, with of course, the reindeers at the centre, lots of vintage silver and fairy lights on the table.

Avalon Markets and QVB Christmas Tree

November 23rd, 2009

Last weekend I did the Avalon Festival

avalon-festival-1

We had a great day!

Avalon Festival-2

The next Markets I will be at are:

Mosman Market, 5th of Dec

Wahroonga Village Fair, 6th of Dec

Mosman Twilight Market, 10th of Dec

The day following the festival, I went into the city to meet up with a friend of mine.

We met at the Queen Victoria Building, so I could view the spectacular Christmas Tree

QVB

The Christmas Tree was beautiful, a definite must do to get you into the Christmas Spirit.

QVB Christmas Tree

The day was perfect for me, indulging in my favourite pastime, bookshop hopping. So many books that I need to read. I came home with yet more books to add to my Christmas wish list.
